The detail

Light it at the full moon and name what is finished. Some people burn the paper they wrote at the new moon; most just read it back. Either way the pair of candles marks two fixed points a month, which is more structure than most practices ever get.

Materials & care

Soy wax, cotton wick, 8 oz amber glass. Trim the wick to 5 mm before each lighting. First burn should run 2 hours so the wax pools to the edge, or it will tunnel for the rest of its life.
